1.1 Fitness and registration By completing an online or in-person registration, each participant confirms that they are physically and mentally capable of completing the event distance entered. Anyone changing distance during an event does so at their own risk and must inform a member of the Inertia Events team on their return. The registration must be completed by someone aged 18 or over, and proof of age may be requested.
1.2 Participants under 18 Participants under 18 may only take part with the consent of a parent or guardian and Inertia Events. A parent or guardian must accept responsibility for the young participant, and anyone aged 18 or under must be accompanied by a responsible adult in accordance with the safeguarding policy.
1.3 Clothing and equipment Participants are responsible for choosing clothing and equipment that are suitable for the event, the conditions and the longest route they may undertake.
1.4 Course conditions and route choice Warning signs may be placed at appropriate points, but their absence does not mean that a section is free from risk. Terrain may be uneven, slippery or otherwise challenging. Participants must decide whether it is safe for them to continue. Any marked route is provided for guidance, and anyone choosing an alternative line or route does so at their own risk.
1.5 Route changes and cancellations Inertia Events reserves the right to shorten, alter, postpone or cancel a published route or event at any time. Participants are not entitled to a refund where a route or event is adjusted, shortened, postponed or cancelled, subject to the transfer arrangements set out below.
1.6 Insurance and personal property Participants should arrange suitable insurance where appropriate, including event cancellation, injury, equipment or personal property cover. Inertia Events cannot accept responsibility for training injuries, changes to personal plans, or loss or damage to property beyond its reasonable control.
1.7 Respect for other route users Participants must be considerate towards other users of roads, paths, bridleways, footpaths and byways. Walkers, horse riders and other members of the public must be passed carefully and courteously.
1.9 Road safety Where an event includes a road element, runners must follow the Highway Code and all applicable traffic laws.
2.0 Photography and filming Participants grant Inertia Events permission to photograph or film them during an event and to use those images or recordings for event coverage and promotion. This may include online publication, social media, advertising and other appropriate media. A parent or guardian entering with a child accepts that the child may also appear in event photography or video.
2.1 Withdrawal from an event Any participant who cannot complete an event must contact the event team or return to the event centre and report to a member of staff.
2.2 Transfers and exchanges Entry fees cannot be refunded or exchanged except where a transfer is specifically offered by Inertia Events.
2.3 Rescheduled events Where an event is cancelled and moved to a new date, entries will be transferred to the rescheduled event. A participant unable to attend the new date may transfer to another eligible Inertia Events event, but not to a later year unless Inertia Events agrees otherwise.
2.4 Event communications Participants agree that Inertia Events may contact them with essential information about their event, including start times, route updates, safety information and operational changes. Personal information will be handled in accordance with applicable data protection requirements.
2.5 Participant responsibility Participants are responsible for checking the event webpage and the email address used during entry for current information and updates.
2.6 Pre-event information Detailed participant information is normally issued approximately two weeks before the event. All essential event information will also be made available on the relevant event webpage.
